A.D. The Bible Continues. As you've been reading our Illustrated Message Series on Holy Spirit Power, We decided to watch again this television miniseries which is based on the Bible, done by Roma Downey and Mark Brunett, albeit has a lot of Hollywood interpretations added in. It focuses on the works of the disciples in the Book of Acts. For the most part it gives a good general overview of what transpired but one needs to go the Bible itself, read along, to be able to see what is truth and what the Directors have added for marketability.
This month, we watched a video series which coincides with the Illustrated Messages that we've been preaching on which is Holy Spirit Power. This movie series entitled; A.D. Anno Domini - The Trials & Triumph Of The Early Churchshows exactly that. Produced as the sequel to Jesus of Nazareth, this shows the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, the persecution of the church by the Romans, to the crucifiction of Peter and the Paul beheading of the Apostle Paul. It's needs to be seen as a motivation for Christians not to become lukewarm in their walk with Jesus.

Risen is the epic Biblical story of the resurrection. Seen through the eyes of a Roman military tribune who is present at Jesus' crucifixion, he is tasked with the impossible job of finding Jesus' missing body. He does find Jesus though, but he's not dead. He's alive and this tribune's encounter will eternally change his life. A super powerful and uplifting movie.

The Encounter is what Salvation Theatre previewed tonight. A great movie which follows 5 strangers who are divinely set up to encounter Jesus at a diner. Each one has their own story as to why or why not they’ve allowed Jesus to be Lord in their lives. It’s challenging and brings home the reality that our lives can end at any moment and that we need to be spiritually reconciled with Christ Jesus.

Anyone who has had a death or near death experience, has had to at some point, have a reality check of there being heaven and hell and that their eternal destination will be only in one of those two places. Let There Be Light tells the story of one such atheist individual who has a hard time coming to grip with his. It's an encouraging storyline as we see him coming to Christ and being reunited with his wife and two sons. The part I felt that was weak was when the wife finds out she has incurable cancer. Instead of showing a desire to live, she's portrayed as one who surrenders immediately to the Doctors negative report and just prepares herself to die. There's no sign of prayer for healing or even to believe that God would heal her. Those of us who watched it with disappointed with that as we know that the Bible commands us to pray for the sick to see them healed. It is still a good watch though bringing people to salvation in Jesus.
2 Peter 3:3-4 says the following; "knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” I believe we are in the last days and maybe you know of people who also scoff at the return of Jesus Christ for the Christians. This 4-disc DVD series entitled Apocalypse investigates and reveals this very topic. Produced by those who filmed "Left Behind: The Movie", together with John Hagee Ministries and Jack Van Impe Ministries, this action packed prophetic insight keeps the rapture of the church front and centre. The DVD's are entitled; Apocalypse, Revelation, Tribulation and Judgment. One or all four are a must see and will challenge you to think about where you're eternal home will be - heaven or hell.
